You come across another part of our beautiful island that you haven't been to before. On the weekend we visited the most beautiful bay called 'Stewarts Bay' , just before you get to the more well known area Port Arthur. I must say it was so relaxing and certainly a well needed break for my husband and I. Here are some photos to give you an idea of just how lovely it was.
Looking down from our cabin through the trees onto the bay.

Then we walked along a track which took us into Port Arthur; and for those that don't know this is an early penal colony where they sent convicts or criminals from England back in the 1830's. They were transported out to Tasmania or what was then called Van Diemens Land for a variety of crimes, some were sentenced to life in Port Arthur, and some were sent out as petty offenders and given a term to serve.
A view of the penitentiary
The church which could house up to 1300 people on a Sunday....
The gardens of Port Arthur....
A view across the lawn.
